    im alive!
email i sent to most of you

Hello all my longest lostest buddies!!! I’m so sorry that I’ve been neglecting you all for the best part of six months (you’ve probably either not noticed or enjoyed the peace lol) but it has been the craziest half a year, and I’ll only bore you with one percent of the details.
I’ve just finished the horse course at the ag college about two weeks ago now, and I miss all my little cornfed buddies terribly. It’s funny, cos at the start of the year I didn’t want to be there, and now I don’t want to leave. Kicking and screaming both ends, but that’s what you get for being impossible to please. I had the best time at the college, although it was really intense. We had three horses each to work there and travelled all over the state to shows and sales, and when the college kids had a weekend off from these, I had something like racing or polocrosse on, so I went for a few months there without one day off at all, so that’s why I haven’t had time to ring you or write you all! (Even now I’m strapped for time, this is going to be poxy and short cos I have to get home and fix up the new racehorse) I had a job bar tending but didn’t have time for it, cos I’m now a full time strapper for our four racehorses, four polocrosse horses, breaker, and two mares with foals which involves two hours in the stable in the morning AND at night. Still managed to get up to lots of no good here though. I’m always either on a horse, asleep, or drunk. (I love being 18!) Or all of the above.
I still want to go overseas but I don’t think I’ll be going over there to work anymore, cos Dad really needs me to help run the stables and I’m getting more and more responsibilities every week, which means more monies! So I think I might stay here til racing season is over and take the horses to Birdsville (something I’ve always wanted to do) and go for a holiday instead.
And I still intend to come visit everyone within the next four weeks, but of course, that depends on the horses, as always!
I hope you’re all good and well *cough*. Happy birthday to all you drunkards who’ve turned 18, and ahahahaha to all you underagers (we were there once too).
Anyway, I just wanted to remind you that I still love you all dearly and haven’t forgotten about any of you, and I’m really sorry for not keeping in touch properly!
Hope to catch up properly soon.
    Lotsa love,
    Jess

    The legacy lives on!!
My email to a few boarder friends...

    Congratulations Glennie Seniors 05!
I have it from a reliable source (but we'd believe this anyway) at our beloved Glen Glen that WAC told the grade 12s this year that she was expecting them to set a good example as seniors this year, that past seniors had let the school down, ESPECIALLY last year's seniors. Which means we did our job properly guys! And if you're still going as strong as last year, none of you will be sober enough to read this anyway!
    We always aim to please...

Glennie Seniors 05- All She Can Drink.

    Luv Jess xo

And this was Mad's reply which i particularly enjoyed. NB: Mad was Boarder Captain...

thats champion jess!! we did it! we finally brought the skool down , it may have took a whole year, but we did it and the memory will live on forever with us and with all those pathetic rebels sitting in class now still dreaming the same dream we had - drowing the skool in a massive flood thus killing WAC, Harvs, ferret n all our exams n future records, or burning the skool down with petrol from all the boarders properties and sitting on chairs watching from across the road at newton with hot chips!! haha !

SUCKERS!! god we had some good times!! JEss, u have made my day!! Whoo yeah whoo!!

    Large Roundworm

    Cause: Parascaris equorum (Large Roundworm)

Predisposing Causes: Younger horses are more susceptible to the effects of the parasite than older horses.

    Occurrence: Worldwide

Mode of Infection: Worm eggs are ingested from pasture

Clinical Signs: Obstruction of the intestines due to worm burdens, which can lead to colic; weight loss; haemorrhaging in the lungs due to worms making their way through them- this can also cause pneumonia; alternating constipation/diarrhoea; lethargy; fever; worm eggs in faeces

Control: Prevention by using a good deworming programme

Treatment: Deworming; ivermectin has proven effective

Important: The health problems caused by the parasite can be fatal, such as colic and loss of condition

    Strongyles (Large)

    Cause: Strongylus vulgaris (Strongyles (Large))

Predisposing Causes: Eggs ingested from pasture

    Occurrence: Worldwide

Mode of Infection: Eggs ingested from pasture

Clinical Signs: Worms or eggs in faeces; ruptured arteries; blood clots; liver damage due to worms biting off flesh; colic; fever; diarrhoea; anaemia; loss of condition

    Control: Deworming programme for prevention

Treatment: Deworming Products containing Oxibendazole, Dichlorvos, Pyrantel Pamoate and Ivermecton

Important: Damaged arteries can rupture, and if this occurs the horse will have a sudden death.

    Strongyles (Small)

    I like.
I like Peter Gabriel's song 'Book of Love'. My interpretations of songs tend to be 'wrong', but this is why I like it. He seems to be writing from the perspective of someone who seems to, not deride love, but look on it as something silly, a waste of time, emotional weakness, (like the stereotypical 'manly' attitude) or like someone who's been burnt before, but on top of this he's found someone who has caused him to contradict his own negative perception, maybe even against his will. And he loves it.
This probably doesn't make any sense to anyone, but I know what I mean.

    drunkards on the roof
last night was a preview of what the rest of the year is set to look like
kel and i went over aidan and josh's and got merrily blotto as we do
kel ended up falling asleep around 11, as did aidan, and josh and i ended up on the roof of the tavern with our bottle of vodka, beneath the stars with the cops circling like sharks below. havent seen josh for about 5 years now, so we caught up with a good 7 hour long chat, which had about two silences lasting 30 seconds in it.
kel and i got home about 4.30 and got blasted by her grandma. we had grease for brekky and then i left kel to sleep it off and i went back to aidan's and talked some more to josh and aidan, ie planned our next drinking session, which was going to be tonight but theyre postponing til tomorrow so i can join in the fun too WOOT.

it is going to be an INTERESTING year...

    11:17 am
the first day of the rest of my life
Well this year looks like it’s going to be a complete change of lifestyle in every way possible.
Not only have I finished school (yay!) and left boarding to live at home, but mum is now leaving dad and Laura is at a new school in Brissy.
So I have gone from living with 200 other people to one, from living in a cold wet city to a hot dry hole. I will have gone from sitting on my arse at school all day to not having time to scratch this year. This is what my weekly routine will be like in about two weeks from now:
Monday, Wednesday-Friday: Up at 5.30AM, help exercise the racehorses, feed, muckout, make feeds, etc. Ag college at 7:00AM, ride all day til 5:00PM, go home do the horses (same as morning without the exercise) be finished by about 6, start work about then (I’m doing bar work) and work til about 10 or 11 PM, go home, sleep.
Tuesday nights will be my night off from bar work, but I will be helping dad draft for the sale the next day at the cattle yards and that can go as late as 3 in the morning but I might have to leave earlier some nights so I can sleep!
Saturdays and Sundays will be busy, cos I will have polocrosse carnivals that last all weekend or race meetings on Saturdays. Sundays off will be devoted to doing anything I didn’t have time to do during the week, which will be plenty.
So I’m looking forward to it, I like having a very busy routine as long as I have time to do each task properly.
Another change to look forward to is turning 18 in March!!
On top of this I’ve had a bit of an emotional overhaul in the past two months since leaving school, with mum and dad fighting and then finally announcing their split, sis rolling the ute with a bunch of friends in the back and the dog disappearing after this (probably dead by now). But things could be worse; the split shouldn’t be too bitter and it will be so much better to not have to live with all the tension and also no one even broke a bone or needed a stitch after the rollover.
Also saying goodbye to a lot of people who I won’t see for a long time has been difficult, one of the hardest being Lanz who has left for Sweden. I went to her place for new years and there was a bunch of our friends there and it’s so hard to say goodbye to people who you have lived with for the past 5 years. Lanz and I were particularly close and cubed next to each other for a year, and now she’s going to be on the other side of the world.
Through all of this I'm very lucky to have the support of some very close friends who I am incredibly grateful for.

So here I go, clean slate, fresh new start. I can look at all these things as negative, but I’m going to see them as an opportunity to start all over again.

    i feel so ruined
    v. ru·ined, ru·in·ing, ru·ins [Middle English ruine, from Old French, from Latin ru na, from ruere, to rush, collapse.]

    v. tr.
    1. To destroy completely; demolish.
    2. To harm irreparably.
    3. To reduce to poverty or bankruptcy.
    4. To deprive of chastity.
Synonyms: ruin, raze, demolish, destroy, wreck, waste, ravage
These verbs mean to injure and deprive something or, less often, someone of usefulness, soundness, or value. Ruin usually implies irretrievable harm but not necessarily total destruction. To wreck is to ruin in or as if in a violent collision: “The Boers had just wrecked a British military train” (Arnold Bennett). When wreck is used in referring to the ruination of a person or his or her hopes or reputation, it implies irreparable shattering: “Coleridge, poet and philosopher wrecked in a mist of opium” (Matthew Arnold)

    disgusting
I absolutely cannot stand the way my parents think of other people.
No one is safe from their judging. They think they’re freaking perfect. But what gets me the most is that the people they look down on more than anyone else are people who, to use their terms, are ‘lower economical’ or ‘at the lower end of the socio economic scale’. So on top of their pretentious language, they’ve got this pretentious attitude, but what REALLY makes me angry is how hypocritical they are. When my parents first married they wouldn’t have had a thousand dollars between them- in their own terms, ‘lower economical’. They know how hard it is to be battlers, so of all people shouldn’t they be more understanding of these people they show so much disdain to??!
What started this is just now, my sister went to her friends’ flat to spend the afternoon, just watch movies and do what we bummy teenagers do in the heat. These friends of Laura’s are extra-special because they have all just survived a terrible ordeal together and it has made their friendship very strong, and they have been very supportive of Laura this whole time. But as soon as Laura leaves dad starts bitching about how ‘how she doesn’t know how to pick them’ (Laura is not romantically interested in any of them, nor them her) and how they’re not the type of people he likes, and the only reason he can give is because of their economic standing. Which, I like to inform him, is none of his fucking business. And anyway, they’re 20 years old, they’re not supposed to have business empires yet! Give them a break.
These kids have been to our place for dinner, have impeccable manners around our parents, can hold an intelligent conversation and are just all-round nice people, which even my mum can admit.
If I was an outsider looking in, I know who I’d rather be friends with. Who would you choose; rich ol Ebenezer Scrooge who has no friends cos no one’s good enough for him, or normal, genuine, friendly people who will look after you when you need it and are fun to be around?
Stupid question. I don’t understand why money’s even an issue when it comes to FRIENDship. It just makes me absolutely furious.

Very quick update until I have time to do one properly. Once you finish reading this you will realise why I have not updated properly for a verrrry long time.
Ok, after grade 12 exams there was the week of shit that Glennie pumps into us, but I managed to miss most of the boring stuff either by hiding in the dorms or busting out with Rob. Cheers buddy.
After that there was schoolies! Oh the awesomeness of it deserves an update to itself, which I shall provide in due course.
Then I came home and my annoying parents are divorcing then back and divorcing again. And my grandparents split up but are now engaged, cos they weren’t married before that, but now they’re getting married…
So I decided to heave ho all the shit and hightailed it outta Longreach. I will give proper details *soon* but this is basically what I’ve done between the 17th of December to the 4th of January.
Longreach to Toowoomba to Brisbane to Sunshine Coast to Brisbane to Toowoomba to St George to Gold Coast to Toowoomba to Deepwater (NSW) to Longreach.
And then at the end of this month we are going back to the Gold Coast and also Raby Bay.
I just want to say a BIG THANKYOU to everyone who saved me from the hell that is here and made my wee trip so awesome. CHEENA I LOVE YOU and to your mum and Grace, thankyou so much for letting me invade your home as if I own it and for everything else you do in between, giving me lifts and looking after me when I’m sick and all the psychological help and just everything.
To Scragley, for letting us crash at your place again, it is the place to be I tell ya now.
To Scotty and Jeff and Rob for all the lifts, I would be a lot skinnier if it weren’t for you mob but also prolly a lot deader. Exercise kills!
To the Johnsons for babysitting me yet again, and of course darling Amy for helping me devise strategies to get the hell away from Longreach.
To the Lanz’s, for one of my second set of parents, for adopting me and putting up with Hurricane. Cmon I’m not that bad, I blame it on Nic, control that boy.
To Jill, the Meibuschs, Loza and Dougie for getting me to and from NSW.
To my Oma, for helping convince my parents to let me go to NSW.
Thanks to Rob for whatever the hell it is I’ve got and I’m taking 2000mgs of penicillin a day so I can breathe. Lol jks boy.
To my sis, my cousins, Klan, Dom, Rob, Lanz and Amy for putting up with my crying ranting self, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
And thanks Mum and Dad, cos that’s tradition I spose.
I miss you all so much.
Love love love forever and always
